Underneath

Invisibility exists all around us.
Air, mist, and sometimes even us.

There are a thousand different sides of me;
Refusing to come out, refusing to be seen.
A passion that lays underneath the known.
Forever I am trapped, foreverĀ alone.

Everyday a person falls. Everyday someone’sĀ born.
Life is a leaf on a tree, waiting to be torn.
Do not waste the little moments you get,
your life is your own, not someone’s pet.

Invisibility exists all around us.
Air, mist, and sometimes even us.

People only see what is lying on the outside.
Nobody pays attention to what’s underneath the tide.
Everybody is invisible even if they do not know it.
Everyone has a this side where they’re too afraid to show it.

No matter who you are or what you do,
There’s always one person who knows the real you.
Be confident in yourself, don’t care what others think,
Be who you want to be, don’t care about some kink.

Invisibility exists all around us.
Air, mist, and sometimes even us.

Everyone, past and present, puts on a show;
Hiding things they don’t want others to know.
But is the answer really to hide and be scared?
No it is not! Show others you care.

No matter who they are or what they do:
Everyone hides, including you.
Never let your spirits be shattered,
Because in the end, you’re the one who matters.

  1. This reminds me of a quote by Wendy Mass. “Be kind, for everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”

  2. I relate to this on a personal level. I love how you wrote this and put into words what some people feel like, and then told them to not be afraid of who they are; to stand up for themselves. Love this.

    1. Thank you so much. I really appreciate getting good feedback about my poetry. I like having it affect people.
