Stand to Fight

Hidden away from the world and from the conversation.
Resigned, content, never assigning a designation.
People do not realize or see how much they show and share,
They continuously speak and don’t seem to ever care.
An experiment, a puzzle, a quiet little test,
To discover if there’s something different among the rest.
Slowly someone rises to meet the challenges set forth,
Determining to each other what others may be worth.
But as soon as they started out, they fell back with worry,
Running from the ideal set before them in a hurry.
Then another arises to take on the task ahead,
Only to be caught between fear and the tears that they shed.
Nobody else there willing to rise up and take a stand.
No one here in this world will dare to give a helping hand.
Then suddenly as if a message was sent through the dust,
A hero approaches the problem knowing someone must.
A brave, simple citizen not known to many around,
A soldier to fight the battles in the name of the town.
Ordinary people have the power to create change,
And show all those around that heroism has no range.
Stand up to what you believe in because you have the right,
Never let fear diminish your own starkly dazzling light.
